Kingwood Connection: Community Web Site |

The Kingwood Connection is a community information web site for the Kingwood community. Originally launched in 2004, it was time to upgrade the web site's look with a design that was more Web 2.0, that was CSS based for presentation and layout, was more SEO friendly, and could be easily read on mobile devices. A web site redesign was done, starting with an upgrade to the Joomla platform that the site is based on, along with the numerous customizations and add ons. An integrated user interface was customized to tie together all of the site's features. Once all of the upgrades were completed to the web site's underlying platform, a new web site layout was designed and implemented in a custom Joomla theme. To enable quick load times on mobile browsers, graphics in the HTML template were kept to a minimum. The major of the layout's graphics are specified through the CSS stylesheet, allowing a stripped down version of the website design to be displayed and highlighting the content when viewing through a mobile phone or other PDA. |
